She’s quick like a bunny. Always moving. Sometimes I don’t think I can keep up with her. She always has projects. And ideas. Great ideas. Sometimes I roll my eyes at her and she says, “you just wait…I’m the most brilliant Mommy there ever was!! And without a doubt, I am ALWAYS left somewhat in awe of her magnificent creative mind and her ability to problem solve in the most unique ways!!
Then there’s the music…Her voice could tame the angriest of beasts with just the first few notes and I love the silly songs she makes up as much as the beautiful choral music she has routinely sung since I was a little girl. But the JAZZ!! Yeah man…that’s where it’s at. My Mom can SING (and SWING) some JAZZ!! She can sing tunes for days and I could listen to her do it too.
But the students. Those are who really light her fire. They give her the passion. She guides them, inspires them, loves them, mentors them and TEACHES them. She is their friend. She is their instructor, but for many of them, she is also a second “Mom”. And I will gladly share her. Because that’s just what GOOD daughters of GREAT Mothers do.
Happy Mother’s Day Mom. You are all the GOOD STUFF.
